Colombo Strikers (CS) will lock horns with B-Love Kandy (BLK) in the 18th match of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 at the R Premdasa Stadium in Colombo on August 13. Colombo Strikers have played six games where they have won four matches and are second in the rankings. On the other hand, B-Love Kandy have a similar record but are at the top of the table due to a better net run rate.

Colombo Strikers had played against Dambulla Aura in their last match, where Dambulla Aura won the toss and elected to bat. Dambulla had a horrible start which was just going from bad to worse. The pair of Ben McDermott and Alex Ross gave them a way out as they both reached out to their individual fifties. They posted a good score of 166 runs on the board in reply, of which Strikers had a rather slow start. Soon they started losing wickets as well and eventually were bowled out for 116. They lost the match by 50 runs.

B-Love Kandy had played against Jaffna Kings in their last match, where Colombo Strikers won the toss and elected to bat. They started brilliantly, with both the openers looking great, especially Mohammad Haris, who went on to score 81 runs. They lost a couple of wickets in quick succession but had good partnerships to follow, so they could post a strong total of 178 runs. Kings did not start well and looked in trouble, but their experienced middle order pulled them back into the game. Although this could still not be enough, and they fell short of the target by eight runs.
