Dambulla Aura (DA) will lock horns with Colombo Strikers (CS) in the 16th match of the Lanka Premier League 2023 at the R Premdasa Stadium in Colombo on August 12. Dambulla Aura have played five matches where they have won three matches and are in the second position. Colombo Strikers, on the other hand, have played five matches where they have won two matches and are fourth in the rankings.

Dambulla Aura had played against Jaffna Kings in their last match where Jaffna Kings won the toss and elected to bowl. Dambulla had a horrible start losing both their openers on ducks each. That is when Samarawickrama and Perera joined hands to stitch together a good partnership and helped their team out of the deep waters. They managed to put up a decent total of 134 runs at the loss of eight wickets. This would not have been too challenging a total for the Kings but they lost four wickets early on which pushed them back in the game and could actually never recover from it. Kings lost the match by a close call of nine runs.

Colombo Strikers had played against Jaffna Kings in their last match where Colombo Strikers won the toss and elected to bat. Strikers started off really well with both their openers looking to be in great touch. However, the middle order had a mini-collapse which stopped the run flow and by the end of the innings, they could only score 146 runs. Kings had a similar start as their counterparts but the difference lay with the continuation of the start they got. Kings did not lose track in between and won the match comfortably by six wickets with 33 balls to spare.
