England Women will be up against Sri Lanka Women in the 2nd ODI match of the Sri Lanka Women's Tour of England at the County Ground in Northampton on September 12. This is a three-match series which is currently being led by England Women with one win already in their kitty. Sri Lanka Women need to win this match to keep themselves alive in the tournament.

The first match of the series was played at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street where the toss was won by England Women and they elected to bowl. It was a match Sri Lanka needed to forget and move on ahead in the series. They started decently and scored 22 runs for the opening partnership but as soon as the opening stand broke, they started wickets in bunch. Batters came and batters left back in no time one after the other as the whole team got bundled together for a mere total of 106 runs.
England had a very easy chase in front of them as this total was never going to be a challenge to them. They started in a way which further gave them confidence and made the rest of the chase a much easier task. They had an opening stand of 61 runs in 10 overs and even after the opening stand broke, they did not let the scoring rate come down. The chase was already done and dusted by 18 overs as England Women won the match by seven wickets. This was an all-round win for the English team which they would like to continue forward in the series.
