Jaffna Kings (JK) will lock horns with Colombo Strikers (CS) in the 13th match of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on August 8. Jaffna Kings have played five matches where they have won two matches and are present in the fourth position in the points table. Colombo Strikers, on the other hand, have played four matches as well where they have won and lost two matches each from four that they have played and are third in the rankings.

Jaffna Kings played against Dambulla Aura in their last match, where Jaffna Kings won the toss and elected to bowl. Dambulla had a horrible start losing both their openers on ducks each. That is when Samarawickrama and Perera joined hands to stitch together a good partnership and helped their team out of the deep waters. They managed to put up a decent total of 134 runs for the loss of eight wickets. This would not have been too challenging a total for the Kings but they lost four wickets early on, which pushed them back in the game and could actually never recover from it. Kings lost the match by a close call of nine runs.

Colombo Strikers had played against Galle Titans in their last match where Colombo Strikers won the toss and elected to bowl. The match was a complete run-fest for the batters of both teams. Every batter that came out of the Titan’s camp was in form and smashed runs on the ground. They lost just three wickets and posted a strong total of 188 runs. Strikers were no less in reply and their openers put up an opening partnership of 111 runs. The match went on to the penultimate ball where Colombo Strikers clinched the victory.
