South Africa (SA) will be up against Afghanistan (AFG) in the second warm-up match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on September 29. Being put to bat, Africans started slow and were going ahead cautiously, but as soon as the pair of Aiden Markram and David Miller joined hands, the scoring shot up immediately. With a fantastic finish by Marco Jansen and Andile Phehlukwayo, they put up a strong total of 315 runs. Australia started the chase aggressively and had a good partnership for the third wicket, but other than Marsh and Marnus, no one contributed. As a result, they were bowled out for 193 and lost the match by 122 runs.

Afghanistan had squared off against Sri Lanka in their last match, where Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. Sri Lanka started well with a good opening partnership of 63 runs. It was followed by a couple of other good partnerships as well. There was a mini-collapse in the middle, but the lower order did a great job as they posted a strong total of 291 runs on the board. Afghanistan lost their openers cheaply, but the middle order was fantastic to put them up in the driving seat. However, they kept losing wickets regularly, which hurt them in the end as they fell short of the target by just two runs and were bowled out.
