IPL 2020 might have witnessed just 10 matches so far but the T20 extravaganza has already rolled out plenty of drama. Be it explosive batting knocks, superhuman fielding effort or match-winning bowling spells, the league has already dished out several memorable moments for all fans.

The tournament produced another scintillating thriller on Monday as Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore edged past defending champions Mumbai Indians in a dramatic fashion at Dubai, where the fate was decided by a Super Over.

After suffering a thumping 97-run defeat against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their previous encounter, Kohli’s men bounced back and amassed a daunting 201-run total against MI. The RCB bowling unit also delivered an impressive job, leaving MI reeling at 78/4 with Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya sent back to the dugout.

However, there was a twist in the tale as Ishan Kishan slammed a 58-ball 99 to almost steer MI past the finishing line. The southpaw added a brilliant 119-run stand for the fifth wicket with Kieron Pollard (60 off 24) and the game ultimately went into a Super Over.

RCB’s Navdeep Saini stepped up in the crunch situation and bowled exceptionally well in the Super Over, conceding just seven runs and putting his side in the driver’s seat. In reply, AB de Villiers and skipper Kohli cruised to the target as RCB clinched second win of their IPL 2020 journey.

RCB clinched their second victory of IPL 2020

Kohli’s men were elated after pulling off a dramatic win. The Mumbai Indians camp, on the other hand, was left shattered after losing the encounter by the narrowest of margins. Kings XI Punjab, who have suffered two close defeats in their first two matches, also posted a consolation tweet for Rohit Sharma’s boys.

“Feel ya, @mipaltan #RCBvMI,” wrote KXIP, who suffered two heartbreaking defeats against Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals.

Post their victory, RCB skipper Kohli lauded the team’s performance while expressing his feelings over the exciting contest. Kohli said that the victory would boost RCB’s morale but they need to improve their fielding in their upcoming matches.

“We’ve got a close victory and these little things on the field…we really want to focus on it. Fielding is something we need to work on. If we’d taken our chances, it wouldn’t have been so close,” said Kohli after the game.
