Nitish Rana, the player from the same part of India as Gambhir and Sehwag has started the tournament in grand fashion. The 23-year-old bats left-handed at the top of the order for the Mumbai Indians. His knock of 70 against the Gujarat Lions last season, cemented his position in the playing XI this season.

It is excellent to see the Mumbai Indians building a team full of youngsters amidst the experienced lot. To see Kieron Pollard bat on the same platform as the Rana’s and the Pandya’s has been the success story of the tournament.

The left-handed batsman has scored 193 runs in five innings at an average of 38.60, which the likes of Pollard and Rohit Sharma would be proud of. The Delhi boy has helped the Mumbai Indians get over the line on two separate occasions, the first one coming against the champion side Kolkata Knight Riders and the second against the new side Gujarat Lions and it is left to see if the Delhiite manages to pull off the feat once again in the tournament.

4) Rishabh Pant- Delhi Daredevils (Batsman)

The 19-year old Delhi batsman had taken the tournament by storm when he smashed the Royal Challengers bowlers to all parts of the ground in their opening encounter. The 19-year-old scored a vital half-century in the first game of this year’s tournament and since then has gone from the pillar of strength to another.

The Delhi lad managed to pick the screws of India’s prime and best fast bowler, Umesh Yadav, to score 26 runs off his over at the Kotla. If not for his dismissal the batsman would have taken the Daredevils over the line. Pant finished the match with 38 runs coming off in double quick time in just 16 balls with two boundaries and four sixes.

Before the tournament, the batsman made his debut for the country when he played against England at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, ending up not out on five runs. Since then, the batsman has managed to improve his stamina and fitness and has gone on to become one of Delhi’s premier batsman, another one to look out in the future.

Few critics already argue that the Delhi batsman is already ready to step-up in the national side while the others argue that the batsman might not be able to withstand the pressure of the national side. However, it looks likely that the 19-year-old would feature in the Blue Jersey sooner or later.
