Kerala floods have put the cricketer Basil Thampi in trouble. He has been picked in the India Blue squad for the ongoing Duleep Trophy. But he is yet to join the team ahead of their first match against India Red which will be played at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul. He was supposed to join the team on Tuesday but with the airport shut, Thampi will now travel by road and reach the venue late night on Wednesday.

Torrential rains and floods have left Kerala in disarray with close to 350 people losing their lives and more than 3.5 Lakh people shifted out of their base. Cricketers have been contributing in the best possible ways and have urged the fans also to help them in need with Team India also donating their match fees after the Trent Bridge Test match on Wednesday. The skipper Virat Kohli also dedicated the victory to the flood victims during the presentation ceremony.

India Blue skipper not perturbed

Basil Thampi was thankful that his family was not struggling due to the floods but informed that his relatives were in trouble. “My house is situated on a higher plain and thankfully there was no flooding but some of my cousins and friends houses have been flooded,” he was quoted as saying by Sportstar live.

Meanwhile, the skipper of India Blue Faiz Fazal is not worried much about Thampi’s late arrival ahead of the match and hoped that he will deliver in the game for them. “To be honest, nobody has had too much practice because of the rains around the country. Basil is a professional and I am sure he will come and deliver,” he said.

Also, Ricky Bhui and Smit Patel have been added to the India Blue squads while Siddhesh Lad has been picked to represent India Red in the ongoing tournament.
