Fort Lauderhill in Florida will play host yet again to the West Indies cricket team as they will now be taking on Bangladesh in a T20 international series consisting of three matches. Although not confirmed as of yet, the upcoming tour comes as a welcome good news for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) following the cancellation of the Australian tour following the clash with tour dates with the Australian Football League.

Florida has previously played hosts to the current World T20 champions – The Windies when they played a bevvy of T20 matches against the Indians following the latter’s arduous tour of the Caribbean. The response was a thing of wonder as many Indians living in the area showed up to cheer their team on.

From the three T20Is that both sides are going to play, the board has confirmed that the second and third games to be held at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida. St Kitts is likely to be the venue for the first game. Previously Bangladesh had been due to tour the Caribbean. However, due to the Windies’ participation in the World Cup Qualifiers in March, the tour has now been moved to July.

Welcome news following Australian tour disappointment

Recently, Cricket Australia had delt the BCB with the horrid news of the tour being cancelled due to the financial in-viability of the event. The senior officials of the BCB were also a tad bit miffed following the cancellation and sought to be compensated in some way. It would now seem as though the matches against the Windies come as a rather happy news for the officials and the country as a whole.

At the moment, it would seem as though the dates August 4th and 5th have been reserved by CWI to host the T20Is with the CPL 2018 expected to make its way into the grand scheme of things later on.
