Pakistan batsman Babar Azam congratulated the national team for registering an emphatic 3-0 whitewash against Australia in the recently concluded T20I series in the UAE. The visitors tasted defeat in all three games of the series, having been outplayed as a result of the Pakistan team’s all-round performance. They underwent a remarkable collapse in the first T20I in Abu Dhabi after being reduced to 22 for 6 at one stage in pursuit of 156.

Similarly, in the second and third encounters in Dubai, Pakistan batted first but weren’t able to post daunting totals. However, Aaron Finch‘s boys were in no position to chase them down either, losing by sizable margins on both occasions. Meanwhile, for the hosts, opener Babar was particularly impressive as he scored a total of 163 runs during the 3-match series. All-rounder Imad Wasim played an important role as well by picking up key Australian wickets.

Babar back to no.1 in T20I rankings

Babar’s consistent performances with the bat have helped him rise to the top of the ICC T20I rankings once again. He now sits ahead of Australian captain Finch, who had a disastrous series against Pakistan. Finch will be forced to answer some tough questions when he travels back home for the next assignment against India. He was able to score just 4 runs throughout the series.

The 24-year-old Pakistan batsman, on the other hand, has been in great form for Pakistan as of late. He narrowly missed out on his maiden Test hundred in Abu Dhabi against Australia after he was dismissed for 99. Although Pakistan weren’t able to qualify for the final of the Asia Cup, Babar maintained his string of solid performances with the bat during the tournament.

His batting has often drawn parallels to India’s superstar Virat Kohli. Babar currently averages just under 52 in ODIs, and an impressive 56.56 in the shortest format. Having played 51 one-dayers, he’s already got 8 centuries under his belt.

After he went back to the no.1 spot in the ICC T20I batting rankings, Babar Azam took to Twitter to say, “Back at Number 1 spot in ICC T20 ranking but most importantly Pakistan won. Congrats to the entire team for another convincing series win. Keep us in your prayers. #PakistanZindabad #PakvAus”
