Former India cricketer Chetan Chauhan has been tested positive for Coronavirus. He has been reportedly hospitalised in Lucknow. COVID-19 is at its peak in India at the moment. The cases are increasing with every passing day and the current count is touching 8.5 lakh with almost 3 lakh active cases in the country. Earlier in the day, even former India cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla‘s wife was also tested positive for the virus.

As far as the cricketing fraternity is concerned, Pakistan has already lost two of its cricketers to the virus. Riaz Sheikh and Zafar Sarfraz both passed away after they were contracted with COVID-19. Moreover, former cricketers Taufiq Umar and Shahid Afridi were also tested positive last month. However, both of them have managed to recover successfully.

Aakash Chopra confirmed the news of Chetan Chauhan being tested positive for COVID-19 even as the situation continues to worsen in the country. Reportedly, he has been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi PGI hospital. His family will also tested for the virus now. Chauhan is also a minister in the current Uttar Pradesh Government and was also a Lok Sabha MP in the 1990s.

For the unversed, Chetan Chauhan played 40 Tests and seven ODIs for India scoring 2084 and 153 runs respectively in both the formats. He is still remembered for his exceptional opening partnerships with Sunil Gavaskar. The duo scored 3022 runs together in 59 innings. Chauhan is also the first player in Test history to score more than 2000 runs without a hundred to his name.
