Franchises agree upon hosting T10 PSL later this year

Considering the success of Pakistan’s very own T-20 Domestic league, the franchises and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have arrived on a mutual decision to think of staging a T10 league under the same umbrella. The league is thought to be hosted in December if no further amendments take place.

The league will feature the same Six teams that are currently participating in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), as informed to The Express Tribune by a source close to the matter. The decision to host such a crisp league with even a shorter format must have been considered given the successful hosting of the first edition of T10 Cricket League in December 2017.

Meeting between PCB and the franchises

If the sources are to believed, a meeting featuring the officials of Pakistan Cricket Board including the Chairman Nazam Sethi and the owners of the six franchises was held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium before the Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars match. As a result, there was an agreement on a point to introduce a T10 league at the end of this year.

As per the source, the proposal to host a league of such format was presented by the Board to discuss it among all the franchises. It was even revealed that the same franchises might continue to feature but a separate player draft will be introduced later this year before it’s commencement.

“The suggestion of a T10 league was given by the PCB and was discussed among the franchise owners before they all agreed on it. The same teams will be participating in that league but a separate draft will be held for this format and will be held in December,” the source notified.

The ongoing PSL has somehow brought revolution in cricket for Pakistan given they no longer host any international game on their home soil. The league in a way has managed to unearth the young local talent from the country helping the youth to rub shoulders against the best in the world.
