Gautam Gambhir, the KKR skipper, is known to be a cricketer who wears his heart on his sleeves. The southpaw has been fiercely competitive all through his career and has never held back whenever he is involved in a cricket game.

He was seen getting emotional again in today’s game against Delhi Daredevils at his ‘home ground’ Feroz Shah Kotla. Daredevils were off to a flying start after they chose to bat first in a day game. The KKR bowlers responded well and sent both openers back to curtail the run scoring. KKR were be looking to restrict the home side under 150 but Rishabh Pant had other ideas as he got going towards the latter part of the innings. He blasted 26 runs off one Umesh Yadav over to set Delhi for a big score which got Gambhir miffed.

He got Coulter-Nile back in the attack and he got rid of Pant as the youngster sliced a full and wide delivery into the hands of Gautam Gambhir at point. Gambhir took the catch with ease but was seen hurling abuses as soon as he completed the catch. Maybe he was venting his frustration out as Delhi took the game away slightly from the 2-time champions.

All is well that ends well. Post Pant’s departure, it was business as usual for KKR. They restricted Delhi to 168 and got home with 4 wickets in hand as Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan carved a match-winning 110-run stand.

Gambhir has had problems with his temper in the past as well as he has had innumerable altercations on the field even during his international career. He is known to never mince his words and get into the face of the opposition. His performances though have never been affected due to his anger.

KKR retained their number 1 spot on the points table by virtue of their win today. They will now host Gujarat Lions at Eden Gardens on Friday.
