Gautam Gambhir is not having a good November so far it seems. The former India opener and current BJP MP from East Delhi, has found himself in trouble on two fronts at the moment. On one hand, he is under fire from the incumbent AAP party in Delhi for ignoring an important parliamentary meeting with regards to increasing pollution in the capital.

He was one of the 29 MPs who missed the important meeting which was called by the environment minister Prakash Javadekar himself. Instead, he was seen having jalebis with VVS Laxman in Indore, where he was doing commentary duties for Star Sports in the first Test between India and Bangladesh. This has brought him much trouble, where he has defended himself, albeit poorly.

On the other hand, Gambhir put his mouth in his foot on the cricket side, as he blamed former India captain MS Dhoni and said that it was because of him that he missed his century in the unforgettable final of the 2011 World Cup in Mumbai against Sri Lanka. Gambhir had made 97 runs, while Dhoni remained unbeaten on 91* and hit the match-winning six off Kulasekara to make India world champions once again after 28 years.

“I tell every youngster and every person that before getting to 97, I never thought about my own individual score but looked at the target set by Sri Lanka. I remember that when an over was completed, I and Dhoni were at the crease. He told me that ‘these three runs are remaining, get these three runs and your hundred would be completed,” Gambhir was quoted as saying by The Week.

He further added that if Dhoni hadn’t reminded him of his approaching milestone, he would have scored the century easily. But by doing so, Dhoni distracted him and then going for his personal glory, was clean bowled by Thisara Perera three runs short of a big achievement. However, his words didn’t go down kindly with all the Indian cricket and MS Dhoni fans on social media and he was trolled badly on Twitter for his words.

Here are some of the tweets criticizing Gautam Gambhir for his words on MS Dhoni
