Whole world is currently fighting against the Coronavirus and India is no different to it. The positive cases in the country have gone past 400 while 7 people have lost their lives. While the nation observed the Janta Curfew on Sunday, several states have gone forward and announced complete lockdown to restrict the transmission of the virus. Delhi Government has also done the same in the wake of the increasing Coronavirus cases in the state.

The Heath department of the country is doing its best to treat the COVID-19 patients. Meanwhile, the BJP MP and the former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has announced a massive help of Rs 50 lakh from his Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) fund for the equipments needed for the treatment of the people suffering from Coronavirus.

He wrote a letter to the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal requesting him to let the officers in charge tell him about the requirements. “I would like to pledge Rs.50 lakh from my MPLAD fund for equipment that may be needed for treatment in Delhi Govt hospitals.Kindly, direct officers-in-charge to let my office know about requirements,” Gambhir wrote in a letter.

Cricket has come to a stand still across the world

Like every other sport across the world, Cricket has also come to a stand still amid the Coronavirus outbreak. Each and every series has been either postponed or cancelled even as the marquee tournament, the Indian Premier League (IPL) remains deferred until April 15. Various speculations are being made about the future of the cash-rich league while the BCCI is reportedly set to speak to the stakeholders via a conference call of March 24.

As far as international cricket is concerned, all the bilateral series have been postponed for now and the boards are expecting to organise the matches later in the year. Even the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which was condensed after Coronavirus situation became serious couldn’t be completed with the competition being called off only a few hours ahead of the semi-finals.

While the concerned authorities are keeping an eye on the situation, Cricket is unlikely to commence in the near future which has, in a way, allowed a much-needed break to the cricketers from their hectic schedules.
