Earlier this year, Gautam Gambhir, who retired from international cricket last year, contested the elections for the maiden time. The southpaw contested for the East Delhi Constituency and tasted victory in his very first appearance. The left-hander is currently a Member of Parliament (MP) after beating Congress’ Arvinder Singh Lovely and Aam Aadmi Party’s Atishi.

He won by a massive margin of 3.91 lakh votes. The seat was earlier represented by Bhartiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Maheish Giri. Ever since, he has been busy bringing in changes to the national capital. Recently, an incident has come to the fore, where Gambhir took a heartfelt step for a lady.
