Gautam Gambhir has gone out of contention for a spot in the Indian team and his chances of making a comeback in the international circuit look bleak. However, that hasn’t stopped him from playing cricket. The 37-year-old batsman is currently a part of the Delhi team, which is playing its first match in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy against Himachal Pradesh at Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi.

He scored 44 runs in the first innings and was dismissed by left-arm spinner Mayank Dagar. He would’ve been disappointed for the reason that he missed out on getting a half-century on a track, which didn’t offer much to the bowlers on the first day. The left-hander looked determined to do better in the second innings and looked good to score a fifty this time around.

Gambhir takes a dig at himself

Unfortunately, he got out for 49 and the dismissal came in the form of a run-out. His bat was found on the line when Rishi Dhawan whipped the bails off. The TV umpire had a close look after which he ruled the decision in favour of the fielding team. Gambhir scored those runs in 52 balls with the help of seven boundaries and a six. He was the second wicket to fall in the 20th over.

In the meantime, Gambhir decided to troll himself with the run-out on the occasion of Children’s Day, which was celebrated yesterday. The day is celebrated in order to pay tribute to India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The experienced campaigner put forth his two daughters- Anaiza and Aazeen and took a hilarious dig at himself.

He took to Twitter and uploaded the pictures of his two daughters. Moreover, he captained them and wrote, “Anaiza to Aazeen: Didi, how did papa celebrate Children’s Day? Aazeen replied: Well, today in the Ranji Trophy match he got run out like a kid!!!! Papa: @natashagambhir2 #ChildrensDay,”
