Regarded one of the modern-day greats, Rohit Sharma is celebrating his 33rd birthday on 30 April, Thursday. On the occasion, Twitter was flooded with birthday wishes for the swashbuckling opener. Many eminent members of the cricket fraternity along with fans joined the bandwagon and extended birthday wishes to the Mumbai Indians skipper.

Since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rohit Sharma has been celebrating his birthday in the IPL window. However, due to the postponement of the much-awaited IPL 2020, Rohit is celebrating his 33rd birthday with his family amid the lockdown. With no cricket action in the scene, the right-hander has been gifted with the opportunity to celebrate his birthday with his wife Ritika and daughter Samaira.

Amid lakhs of birthday wishes on Twitter for Rohit Sharma, current Indian skipper Virat Kohli also joined the list and extended wishes to Rohit. “Happy B’day Rohit @ImRo45. God bless you with good health and happiness and many more elegant innings. Stay safe stay healthy,” wrote the Indian skipper.

Rohit Sharma was set to lead Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020

Rohit’s career rose to success when he was asked to open for the national side in 2013. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands and delivered impressive performances in the 2013 Champions Trophy. Since then, the explosive right-hander has etched his name as one of the most lethal batsmen of the sport.

Rohit is the only player on the planet to smash three double hundreds in One-day Internationals. Popularly known as ‘Hitman’, Rohit etched his name into the record books last year by smashing 648 runs in nine World Cup matches including five tons. He is also the most successful captain in the history of Indian Premier League. Rohit has led MI to the trophy at four occasions– one more than MS Dhoni.

A few days ago, Rohit had also shared a video where he had described his quarantine routine. In the video, the Mumbai batsman was spotted doing workouts, spending time with his daughter, and helping his wife in the kitchen.

Rohit was set to don the Mumbai Indians jersey and lead them to their fifth title in IPL 2020. However, the outbreak of coronavirus has put the tournament on hold and his fans will have to wait for a while to see the ‘Hitman’ back in action on the field
