The best captain India has ever had, MS Dhoni called it quits from international cricket today exactly at 7:29 PM IST. He posted a video which depicted his journey while playing for India with ‘Mai pal do pal ka saathi hu’ song in the background. The news left the fans stunned as not many expected it despite the fact that the veteran cricketer hadn’t played any competitive cricket since the World Cup semi-final last year.

He joined the Chennai Super Kings camp ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and retired silently with an Instagram post. He had decided to walk away from Test cricket, the same way back in 2014 in the middle of the Australia tour. The tributes poured in on social media soon after the retirements news spread and even the international cricketers lauded MS Dhoni for his contribution to the sport.

Among them even Bangladesh wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim also took to Twitter to praise India’s former skipper and saluted him for his heroics on the field. “Such a Legend of the game…A great leader, a great Wk,a great finisher,a great human being etc etc so many qualities…salute to you and a big thank you MAHI VAI,” he wrote in his tweet.

Interestingly, MS Dhoni has an interesting connection with Mushfiqur Rahim. It was the former who affected the famous run-out in the T20 World Cup in 2016. It was the same match when Rahim had celebrated early and then Bangladesh had failed to score 3 runs off four deliveries.

Here’s his tweet:

MS Dhoni’s legendary career

Many are aware of MS Dhoni’s achievements at the international level. He won literally everything when was the captain of the Indian team. He led the team to the number 1 position in Tests and also won the ODI and T20 World Cup. He became the only captain to win all the ICC tournaments when India lifted the Champions Trophy under him in 2013.

He handed the baton over to Virat Kohli in 2017 and played a couple of years more. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be a happy farewell for him as the man walking back in pain after getting out in the World Cup semi-final will keep fans’ heart breaking forever.
