Chris Gayle is in India, the place we can almost call his second home, not just for the time he spends in the country but also for the love and affection the people shower him with. When he published his autobiography ‘Six Machine’ he decided to come to India and launch it here as well. A full-fledged event was organized in New Delhi, with the BCCI president Anurag Thakur and former Indian opener Virender Sehwag present along with Gayle.

Following the launch he had a brief chat with the Quint and when asked what he would prefer to be called, World Boss, Universe Boos or Six Machine. He said, “Universe Boss with Six Machine”

What is the one thing in the book that no one knows about? “It’s about my childhood, lot of people see the superstar there is a lot of history behind that, the way I used to hustle, a lot of things I did to survive, to get a meal.

Chris Gayle wasn’t born in a big cricketing family or with a silver spoon in his mouth; he had to struggle to reach the level he is at today. He came from a humble background fought his hard way to the top and has achieved enough to name himself as the ‘Universe Boss’.

“Every time I came from school would head straight to Lucas Cricket Club. I grew up without electricity and water. Sometimes I used my club to take shower and that’s why I am giving back so much to that particular club. It is like home to me.”

Talking about his childhood coach and the people who were around that time and if he still meets them Gayle said, “Yea, I do, I’ll never lose contact with anyone of them.

About the bond with his family, the Six Machine said, “Family is family you can’t single out any particular one within that family, sometimes you might have difficulties but it’s your blood, nothing gets between that.”

Earlier this year he was blessed with a daughter. Gayle named her blush and when asked what was the one thing that has changed in his life, since his daughter’s birth he said, “She has brought even more happiness, sometimes I feel down and if I am away I just look at her photos and it brings smile to my face. It’s a great feeling to have her in my life and I just can’t wait to go back and hug her.”

There have been a few controversies he has been associated with but the one in Australia with Mel McLaughlin picked up and attracted a lot of scrutiny and criticism on his character and behavior. But according to Chris Gayle, he has no regrets for what happened and takes that just as a passing thing. “I never will feel bad about it. People still ask about it, but no regrets whatsoever with that situation.”
