The Olympics is going on full throttle with all the top teams vying for the ultimate gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain too was one of many contenders to have participated in a global event and was aiming to bag the coveted gold medal. But alas, she had to be satisfied with a Bronze medal as she lost to Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey.
She thus joined Mirabai Chanu and PV Sindu who, bagged silver and bronze medals respectively for India. Borgohain showed character, grit, and determination in all of her battles with her various opponents. She had to face steep competition right from the outset as in her first bout, she encountered Germany’s Nadine Apetz and won the match by the barest of margin via split decision. In the quarter-final, she faced Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen and beat her 4:1.
But in the end, Borgohain had to settle for Bronze as her opponent was a notch above than her in the knockout round. But the Indian boxer became just the third won to win a medal for her country in boxing category and joined Vijender Singh and Mary Kom. This phenomenal achievement of Borgohain on winning a bronze medal for her country was lauded by the Indian cricketers on Twitter.
One more story to inspire a nation. One more girl making India proud. @LovlinaBorgohai has got the #Bronze More power to your punches.

Indian women’s hockey team enter the record books
It seems the women athletes are having a great time in Olympics being staged in Tokyo. If Kamalpreet Kaur entered the record books by being the first Indian to enter the finals of discus throw, then the women’s hockey team too stood tall and went onto reach the semi-finals of the Olympics 2020. The Rani Rampal-led side stunned everyone by beating favorites Australia in the quarter-final and will look to keep the momentum going against their next opponent Argentina.
The match is scheduled to take place today and, every Indian fan will be pinning their hopes on the women’s hockey team. Apart from that, Neeraj Chopra is one of the contenders from India to bag gold and has qualified for the finals of Men’s Javelin Throw. Expectations are high from Chopra as he was in the news recently for performing well in this sport, before the scheduled Tokyo Olympics.
