The Gujarat Lions’ Indian contingent will arrive in Rajkot on Saturday, April 2, 2016. The players will touchdown at Rajkot Airport in three separate batches:

Praveen Kumar, Pravin Tambe, Umang Sharma, Paras Dogra, Eklavya Dwivedi and Pradeep Sangwan.

17:05 – Amit Mishra, Shivil Kaushik, and Akshdeep Nath

20:00 – Dinesh Karthik, Ishan Kishan, Sarabjit Ladda and Shadab Jakati

Coach Brad Hodge and bowling coach Heath Streak arrived in Rajkot on April 1. The rest of the players will join the team over the next few days.

In the lead-up to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016, the Gujarat Lions will commence their practice sessions on April 3, 2016 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.

The Gujarat Lions led by Indian middle-order batsman Suresh Raina have a strong team at their disposal. With Raina being the leading run-scorer in the history of the league they have a leader who can inspire his team to face the toughest challenge.  They also have a good pool of talent with veterans like Praveen Kumar, Pravin Tambe, and Amit Mishra in their lineup along with young domestic stars like Paras Dogra, Eklavya Dwivedi, India U19 skipper Ishan Kishan and others.

Lions at their disposal also have the most experienced T20 batsman Brad Hodge as their coach who knows the format better than anyone else. Hodge had been a superb performer himself during his playing days in the IPL and has seen how the league functions and knows the essentials for success in the IPL. He has former Zimbabwe skipper Heath Streak for company who will take care of the bowling department of the team.

The other newcomer also seems to be ready – We have the desire to win the IPL in our first year: Stephen Fleming
