Opener Mohammad Hafeez, who was earlier ruled out of the limited-over series against the West Indies owing to a calf muscle injury, has been added as the 14th member in PCB Patrons XI for the 3-day side match versus West Indies in UAE. The calf injury had created doubts over his participation in the Test series.

However, with this announcement, it seems that he is perfectly fine and PCB has decided to give him some match practice ahead of the Test series. He is in great form already having featured in the first class match for SNGPL where he scored two half centuries.

But, before Pakistan could rejoice the comeback of Hafeez, a bad news followed for the fans as left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir has pulled himself out of the final ODI against West Indies. His mother has been hospitalized due to serious illness which as forced him to return home today.

The ongoing series between Pakistan and West Indies is halfway through its schedule. Pakistan has dominated the Windies so far after having clean swept them in the T20 series and also winning the three-match ODI series 2-0 with one match waiting to happen.

The Test series will West Indies’ last opportunity to do something worthy in the series. They have looked completely disorganized with their approach. The Pakistanis, on the other hand, have revitalized their limited-over credentials after having got thrashed 4-1 by England last month.

After performing well in the Test series which they drew 2-2 with England, The Pakistan played like complete amateurs in the limited overs series which drew a lot of criticism. However, they now look at their dominant best and start out as favorites for the Test series as well.
