Veteran Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has donned the Mumbai Indians (MI) outfit ever since the inception of IPL, won’t be wearing the same in the upcoming season. In the aftermath of the auction, Harbhajan Singh’s departure from MI, in fact, became one of the biggest talking points. The 37-year-old spent all 10 seasons of the IPL with MI and was a vital cog in the franchise’s success. However, the team management did not retain him for IPL 2018 and Bhajji will now be seen playing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Upbeat on rejoining forces with MS Dhoni, Harbhajan listed reasons what makes the former India skipper such a champion while speaking to CSK’s media team. The off-spinner reckons that Dhoni understands the game really well and is a street-smart cricketer who thinks ahead of the game. Harbhajan, who has represented India under the tutelage of Dhoni revealed, “He (Dhoni) understands the game really well, is street-smart and thinks ahead of the game and I feel that’s very important for a captain, especially in T20. That’s what makes him a great skipper.”

He added, “It’s always a great feeling to play along with MS Dhoni. I’m looking forward to working with him again towards a common goal – this time to win the trophy for the Chennai Super Kings.”

Evergreen Harbhajan excited to play for his new franchise

One of the key cogs of Mumbai in the first decade of IPL, Harbhajan played a crucial role in their triumphs over the years. During his time with Mumbai Indians, the right-hander has won three IPL titles and two Champions League T20 titles. He also captained the side to their maiden Champions League title in 2011.

However, despite all the accolades, the franchise decided to part ways with the World Cup-winning bowler, who now looks a pale shadow of his former self. Last year, he had failed to perform as per expectations and also warmed the bench on several occasions. Nevertheless, the evergreen Harbhajan looks extremely upbeat on his new opportunity especially more since he gets to reunite with MS Dhoni.
