With the IPL auctions just around the corner, all the franchises are busy finding the best possible combinations for their team. This auction is already leading up to some great excitement amongst the fans. The auction is also set to see some big names go under the hammer.
Star Indian players like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Ajinkya Rahane and many others will take part in the auction. The auction will take place in Bangalore over a span of two days on the 27th and 28th of January. There is a huge pool of players available and over a thousand players are taking part in the auction.

The teams are only allowed to hold back on to a maximum of five players. The retentions and RTM’s can be used by the teams in a 3:2 or 2:3 ratio. The retention event is done and the teams retained their best possible options. Since there are many restrictions in the retention policy, the franchises had to let go of many big names.
Harbhajan Singh was one those big names who was released by the Mumbai Indians. Although they can use their RTM card to buy him back, the chances look very sleek. The Indian off-spinner was an integral part of Mumbai Indians ever since it’s inception.
Of late, it would seem as though Harbhajan lost his sheen with the ball. He was a top performer for Indian across all formats. He is also one of the leading wicket-takers for India in all the formats. Harbhajan was a significant contributor to India’s victories and part of the winning team in World Cup 2011. He was replaced by present Indian ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the team.
However, the ‘Turbanator’ is still battling hard to make a comeback into the team. With age not on his side, it isn’t easy for him to make a comeback. But, given that he is a great fighter, he won’t let it go easy.
In a recent event, Harbhajan posed together with the IPL trophy. He took it to Twitter to make the franchises aware that he is the first player to have touched the trophy this year. On a funny note, he also said that picking him up in their team will be an added advantage for the franchises to be able to lift the trophy.
