The Board of Control for Cricket in India recently lifted the suspension imposed on cricketer Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. The suspension was provisionally lifted until the next hearing at the court takes place. This comes as a big relief for the two players who were caught off-guard at an entertainment show. Now, an even bigger sigh of relief could come their way as there are reports floating the media about their on-field comeback.

As per the recent reports in India Today, there are chances that Hardik Pandya might join the Indian team in the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand. Team India has been trying to find a right balance in their lineup and are certainly looking for someone to fill up the all-rounder. While Vijay Shankar has been with the side for a little while now, he has failed to get the magic moments in his corner to grab the attention.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul could also be in line to make a comeback. He could pretty well feature in the Karnataka lineup in the ongoing edition of the Ranji Trophy. This, however, would depend on the fact if Karnataka makes it to the finals of the season or not. Currently, they are playing the semi-final encounter of the season against team Vidarbha.

The infamous chat-gate

Things looked set for the two cricketers a month ago. However, the day the ‘Koffee with Karan’ episode featuring Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul went on air, things turned sour. The two cricketers, Hardik in particular, was heard passing lewd, misogynistic, and sexist remarks at the show. This created a massive furore in the media and among the fans.

Following the same, the BCCI suspended the two cricketers for an indefinite period, pending judgement. Both players were initially named in the Indian squad for the ODI series against Australia. However, following the suspension, they were recalled back to India for further hearing into the matter. Now, until the BCCI has lifted their suspension temporarily quoting,

“The above matter and decision has been taken with the concurrence of the Learned Amicus Curiae, Mr. P.S. Narasimha. In view of the above, the suspension orders dated 11.01.2019 is immediately lifted pending appointment and adjudication of the allegations by the BCCI Ombudsman.”
