Harsha Bhogle picks his World Cup Squad – No Yuvraj, No Sehwag: BCCI has already announced its 30-man list of probables that will be reduced to 15 on January 6 by the selection panel of Indian Cricket Board to defend the honour in February/March at Australia and New Zealand. Indian fans who are more passionate about this sport than any other want their selectors to pick an army of the best players available in Indian resources. Many fans are way too emotional with their favorite players and want them to be a part of the World Cup campaign. Like fans, many cricket pundits and journalists have announced their ‘Ideal World Cup Squads’ who, based on their experience and knowledge about this game, will be able to repeat the glory of 1987 and 2011. Harsha Bhogle, one of the prominent figures in world cricket and the best man to be associated with Indian cricket, not as a player but a true ambassador of the sport, picked his 15 who he thinks are the Top players to represent India.
Harsha’s 15 include: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ravi Ashwin, Ravi Jadeja, Axar Patel, Stuart Binny, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami.
The notable exclusion was Yuvraj Singh was the commander-in-chief of India’s win in 2011 and Man of the Series too. But since he won his battle against cancer, he couldn’t battle for his place back in the team and has been sidelined for ages now.
