The BCCI made a Media Release to announce the 30 Indian players selected for the World Cup 2015 in Australia and New Zealand.

The release read:
The All-India Senior Selection Committee met in Mumbai today and selected the probables for the Indian team to represent at the ICC Cricket World Cup to be played in Australia / New Zealand in Feb – March 2015.

The Indian selectors met in Mumbai to pick up the best 30 cricketers from the country who they find good enough to represent the expectations of 1.2 billion Indians in the Cricket World Cup which will be held in Australia and New Zealand in early 2015.

The committee gave preference and importance to performances and thus we see a lot of young, inexperienced faces to have found a spot. The likes of Kedar Jadhav, Manoj Tiwari, Manish Pandey, Sanju Samson, Parvez Rasool, Robin Uthappa and Ashoke Dinda are the few who have been rewarded for consistency at the domestic level.

While the core team remains the same which has been representing India for around the last couple of years. The selectors also made a stronger stance by ignoring the big yet perishing names like Virendra Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel, Ashish Nehra. All of whom had starred for them in the successful 2011 world cup.

The batsmen who have cut their way into the probables are Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Robin Uthappa, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, Murli Vijay, Manoj Tiwary and Manish Pandey.

MS Dhoni will of course lead the side and keep wickets, but two back up wicket-keepers are picked to have a cushion for the Indian captain Wriddhiman Saha and Sanju Samson fill in the spot.

The pace battery has been strengthened with the inclusion of Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohd Shami, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron, Stuart Binny, Dhawal Kulkarni and Mohit Sharma who can all bowl quick and move the ball as well. The express pace that this bunch has will be something new from India for their opponents and in assisting conditions can prove hostile.

Though Australia and New Zealand are not known to offer help to the slower bowlers still there are 7 spinners who form a part of the 30 selected. R Ashwin, Parvez Rasool, Karn Sharma, Amit Mishra, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.

All-rounders in the team are one Ravindra Jadeja the slow left armer who has been MS Dhoni’s regular companion in all formats of the game now. Suiting the conditions the team might want to have an extra seam bowling option and thus Stuart Binny gets his maiden world cup call.
THE 30 PROBABLES ARE AS FOLLOWS
