Hasan Ali named Emerging Cricketer of the Year at the ICC awards

Pakistan‘s latest speed sensation Hasan Ali was named the Emerging Cricketer of the Year at the latest ICC awards for fabulous and incredible bowling spells in the past calendar year. He was also adjudged the Player of the Tournament in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England where he was the star performer with a tally of 13 wickets to his name and played a crucial role in his team’s winning triumph. The fast bowler has surely emerged to become the lead bowler of the Pakistani bowling attack with a handful of variations in his baggage.

He had a sensational time in 2017 as he secured 45 wickets in 18 ODIs across different parts of the world and that with an impressive average of 17.04. His aura was recognized mainly during the Champions Trophy in England where he was at his absolute best by taking the game away from different oppositions by picking up wickets at regular intervals. His bowling lengths and consistency were greatly admired by many former legends of the game who were present and witnessing the global tournament in England.

Hasan is turning out to be a big asset and a match-winning bowler

The 23-year old maintained his consistency after that competition too as he took a record three-wicket hauls in five consecutive ODI games. His growth and match-winning performance were delivered in different parts of the world in alien conditions like England, Australia, West Indies and Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Ali also became the quickest Pakistani player to claim 50 ODI wickets in only 24 matches thereby surpassing Pakistani legend Waqar Younis.

He finished the year 2017 as the No 1 bowler in the ICC ODI rankings, while starting the year from behind from the 75th spot.  He achieved the number-one position in just 426 days and was just behind two other cricketers who bettered him in this record. Ali has surely become the real match-winner and wicket-taking option for any captain in limited overs cricket. His capabilities and infectious energy on the field also acts as a great motivation for the rest of the players accompanying him.
