In an interesting turn of events, Hasin Jahan, the alienated wife of Mohammad Shami has joined the Indian National Congress on Tuesday. This has come out as quite a surprise as there weren’t any indications of her showing inclination towards politics earlier. In the presence of Mumbai Congress Committee President Sanjay Nirupam, Hasin joined the political party.

The picture of Hasin receiving a bouquet from Sanjay was shared. The Congress leaders seemed to be happy to welcome her into the party. The official Twitter handle of the Mumbai Congress confirmed the same news. A few other pictures of Hasin Jahan being greeted by the leaders and welcomed into the party were put up along with the tweet.

“Mumbai Congress President @sanjaynirupam today welcomed Model Hasin Jahan, wife of Cricketer Mohammed Shami to Congress family,” the tweet read.

Hasin Jahan and Mohammed Shami controversy

The 38-year-old Hasin married Shami on 6 June 2014. The couple was blessed with a girl child, Airah Shami in July 2015. Everything in their married life was going on smoothly until Shami returned from South Africa tour earlier this year. Things turned ugly when his wife decided to come out to the media and speak about domestic violence that the cricketer was subjecting her to.

Hasin Jahan also accused the fast-bowler of infidelity. She further took the legal way and put up several charges against him of which a few investigations are still on. There were also reports of Hasin signing up for a debut in Bollywood some time back.

“I had to do something to earn a living for myself and my child. I did not have any other option. I was approached by director Amjad Khan for a film to which I agreed. I also need money for the legal fight,” she had said while speaking to DNA.
