Hasin Jahan questions BCCI for not considering Shamis character

Mohammed Shami faced a tumultuous phase ever since his wife Hasin Jahan hurled several allegations at him, pertaining to multiple charges involving domestic violence and extra-marital affairs. Subsequently, his annual contract had been withheld by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and his participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL) became doubtful.

However, the tables turned and Shami was proven innocent after an investigation into the match-fixing charges. Thereafter, he was awarded a Grade-B contract by the BCCI and has also been cleared to play for the Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2018. However, the decision hasn’t gone down well with Jahan and her lawyer Zakir Hussain, and they questioned BCCIs investigation procedures.

However, Shami’s spouse recently has also voiced her opinions on the BCCI’s ignorance regarding his personal life. “It is not going to make any difference if he starts playing again, but what about his character? It’s surprising that the BCCI has not considered his character and said they are not concerned about his personal life,” Jahan, who had a long discussion yesterday with West Bengal CM, Mamata Banerjee at the state assembly, was quoted as saying in mid-day.

Meanwhile, Zakir Hussain also iterated the reasons they initially filed the complaint against the Indian fast-bowler. “We submitted all photographs and evidence related to Shami’s character. Our main concern was his connection with this woman, and BCCI withheld his contract on the basis of his poor image because then, the fixing allegations hadn’t surfaced. We will request BCCI to make the probe report public,” Hussain remarked.

Shami has been cleared to play for India, however, the remaining charges are yet to be investigated by Kolkata Police. The pacer and his fans will be hoping for appropriate investigations and for justice to prevail in one of the most heated controversies ever in the history of Indian cricket.
