West Indies were asked to follow-on after being bowled out for 243 in the first innings of the Test match. Opener Kraigg Brathwaite was the top-scorer for the Windies with 74. After the third day, he said that he had never seen any bowling attack bowl with so much discipline so early in the innings.

India attacked from the word go as they had posted a huge total of 566 in the first innings, thanks to Virat Kohli for his blistering double ton. “I think I haven’t seen any bowlers bowl so well in the early stage of the innings. They bowled with a lot of discipline. They also set attacking fields and really backed it up with good disciplined bowling,” Kraigg said.

“I think India was in a good position with a big first innings score. So they could set attacking field, and bowled to their field, specific fields,” he added.

Brathwaite feels that having a positive mindset in always important as they will go out to bat on Day 4 to save this Test match. “Today (Day 3) was the not best day for us as a batting unit. Now what we have to do tomorrow (is), go out there, start from the beginning and assess (the conditions). It won’t be easy. But we believe in ourselves and want to have a positive mindset.”

He is not surprised with the follow-on as he said that, “They were in a strong position and they just backed it up”. He feels that the West Indies batsmen should have curbed their aggression and  should have defended more.

Curbing aggression:

“You have to know when you have to curb your aggression and defend, or when to attack. I think it’s all about individual batsmanship as a whole. It’s about having confidence in what you do and building partnerships and bat throughout the third day,” the 23-year old said.

He also admitted that he is disappointed on missing out the hundred, but assured that he will get there next time. He also said that Mohammad Shami, who claimed 4 wickets pitched the ball hard and had good seam position as well.

“We had just a bad day. We have some really good batsman. Today it didn’t go well but tomorrow we should come back and bat really well and put some runs on the board,” he concluded.
