After playing an instrumental role in Chennai Super Kings’ two IPL title triumphs in the 2018 and 2021 editions, Shardul Thakur will now be looking forward to making an impact for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022, which gets underway on March 26. He was roped in by DC for INR 10.75 crore at the two-day bidding event in Bengaluru last month.
As Thakur gears up to don the new jersey in the 15th edition of the marquee tournament, he has come forward and shared a throwback picture with a hilarious caption. The bowling all-rounder has posed with two of his India teammates and Mumbai seniors Rohit Sharma and Test specialist Ajinkya Rahane.

Shardul Thakur took to his official Instagram handle and shared the image. While the pacer was standing in the middle, the other two stood to his right and left respectively. The trio was supposedly clicked during the three-and-a-half-month England tour last year. However, what really stood out the most over here is that the Mumbai bowler hilariously captioned the image as: “Having bodyguards is just a part of being famous I think.”

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Shardul along with the likes of left-arm spinner Axar Patel, chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav, wicketkeeper-batter and skipper Rishabh Pant have joined the Delhi Capitals squad for IPL 2022. The Palghar cricketer would be hoping to chip in with wickets at regular intervals, especially in the powerplay overs for the Delhi-based franchise this time around and at the same time, he would also be expected to play some vital knocks with the bat lower down the order.
The 30-year-old would be looking to work in tandem with South African speedster Anrich Nortje, Bangladesh fast bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman, promising speedster Kamlesh Nagarkoti, star Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, etc. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals will kickstart their IPL 2022 campaign against the five-time winners Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on March 27.
