The last few days have been sensational for T20I cricket as a few hundreds have been slammed on the subcontinent soil and those performances made an impact on the latest rankings published by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Following an unbeaten 162 by Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai against Ireland in Dehra Dun last Saturday, Australia’s Glenn Maxwell slammed an unbeaten 113 against India in Bengaluru on Wednesday to give his side a 2-0 series victory.

Both the batsmen have made big gains in their rankings as a result of their match-winning knocks. As per the latest rankings of batsmen in T20Is released by the ICC, while Zazai jumped 31 places to make it to the top 10 and is at No. 7 at the moment, Maxwell moved two places up to the third spot after scoring 169 runs in the two matches against India that earned him the Man of the Series award. Maxwell, however, topped the all-rounders’ list and had quite a bit of lead over the second position holder Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh.

KL Rahul is India’s top-ranked batsman in ICC’s list

KL Rahul, who showed glimpses of his form in the series scoring 50 and 47, is India’s topmost player in the list at No.6. Pakistan’s Babar Azam was at the top followed by New Zealand’s Colin Munro. Australian limited-over captain Aaron Finch was at No.4 despite a poor run of form. Rohit Sharma was at No.12 and Virat Kohli at No. 17.

Kohli though moved two spots up while another Indian stalwart MS Dhoni’s rank got bettered by seven places to 56. Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi’s position got better by 12 points. Nabi was ranked third in the all-rounder’s list in T20Is.

In the bowlers’ ranking, pacer Jasprit Bumrah jumped 12 positions to the 15th position while the list was topped by ace Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan. For India, the top-ranked bowler in the T20Is is Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav who is at No.4.
