Pakistan Super League 2020 was a big success for Pakistan as far as cricket is concerned. However, it didn’t end up on a good note due to COVID-19 pandemic. But until then, many cricketers had already etched their name in the minds of fans on the back of their brilliant performances.
This tournament also lit a debate on which players can be the future of Pakistan cricket. In PSL 2020, many players like Haider Ali, Zeeshan Ashraf, Azam Khaan, Umaid Asif and many more hogged the spotlight with their stellar performances. It might work for them in positive as T20 World Cup 2020 is on its way that is slated to be held in Australia starting in October. The aforementioned were the finds of this tournament, who helped their side in clinching wins from crucial situations. But, one player who has impressed Ramiz Raja is Haider Ali, who flaunted his traits for Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 2020.
Ramiz Raja hails Haider Ali’s power-hitting in PSL 2020
Ramiz Raja said that Haider Ali is sheer talent and has made his name in his first PSL 2020 season. He also added the fact that the 19-year-old needs to bring consistency in his game. For him as a batsman, number three is the perfect position to bat as he has some quality strokes in his armoury. His sublime hitting is one of the biggest positives for him as he never fears in implying an aggressive approach against the bowlers.
The former player also pointed out that Haider Ali has a similar talent like Babar Azam and Virat Kohli. But, one thing that he needs to learn from them is they just rely on conventional cricket shots instead of trying something out of the league. Also, he still needs to work on his game awareness and playing longer innings in the match.
“Haider has immense talent and has made a name for himself in his first season of PSL. However, he needs to bring consistency in his performance and his ideal position is number three in the batting order. He has big quality shots in his armour and doesn’t need to improvise much as his power-hitting base is quite strong,” said Ramiz Raja as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
“Haider needs to follow the approach of Babar Azam and Virat Kohli. These two doesn’t improvise much as they have so much talent and rely mainly on conventional shots. Haider has a similar talent as Babar and Kohli, but just needs to work on his game awareness and play longer innings,” he added.
