Kabir Khan’s upcoming Bollywood project ’83 is one of the most awaited movies of this year and understandably so. The movie will cover the historic journey of Team India in the 1983 World Cup. Despite being one of the underdogs, the Kapil Dev-led side had gone on to win India’s first-ever World Cup.
In the final, India had defeated the mighty West Indies. They had defended a modest total of 183 to deny West Indies a hat-trick of World Cup wins. Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh is the lead in the film and will play the role of Kapil Dev. The actor has already made the fans excited by revealing his first look as the former India skipper. A few weeks ago, he posted a picture of himself playing Kapil Dev’s famous Nataraj shot and it would not be wrong to say that the fans were mesmerised.
Kapil Dev opens up on how excited Ranveer Singh is for the movie
Well, Ranveer Singh has not only impressed the fans but also Kapil Dev. The legendary cricketer recently praised the actor for his commitment and skills. In a recent interview, Kapil Dev opened up on just how excited Ranveer was for the movie.
“Ranveer Singh is full of life. He plays cricket quite well. When we were together, he would keep on asking me stories of that era, how it was like with the team, the camaraderie and so on. He wanted to get into the mood,” Kapil Dev was quoted as saying by DNA.
“I’d see him work so hard on bowling; he’d bowl and play for eight hours constantly to understand the rhythm, and would do so in the peak of summer. In such conditions, even cricketers [avoid training] to prevent injuries. So, I feared for his fitness. Ranveer told me that he wanted to be with me. I don’t know what he was trying to [study] — my actions, my manner of talking or pronunciation. [During the 10-day stay] he was dieting because he had to lose weight. He was also practicing [with me] during that time,” he added.
The much-awaited movie also stars Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Amrita Puri, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, and Sahil Khattar in significant roles. The movie is all set to hit the theatres on 10th April 2020.
