'He was an inspiration' - PM Narendra Modi, President, and other notable personalities pour condolences on Yashpal Sharma's demise

Former cricketer Yashpal Sharma succumbed to a heart attack on July 13, 2021, after he returned from his morning walk. He developed uneasiness and chest pain during the morning and was rushed to the hospital. However, he breathed his last at 7.40 am. Sharma was part of the legendary World Cup-winning squad of 1983 which was led by Kapil Dev. As soon as the fateful news broke out, various cricketers and big names started pouring their condolences for the cricketer.

The latest in line is the honourable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who tweeted for the former cricketer. PM added that he was a beloved member of the legendary World Cup squad that brought laurels for the country. He will be an inspiration for his teammates and fans around the world and he himself is quite anguished by the terrible news.

“Shri Yashpal Sharma Ji was a much-beloved member of the Indian cricket team, including the legendary 1983 squad. He was an inspiration for teammates, fans as well as budding cricketers. Anguished by his passing away. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” PM Modi tweeted.

The sequence was joined by another honourable personality from India in form of President Ramnath Kovind. He stated that the piece of news is utterly sad and he will always be remembered for his outstanding performance in the 1983 World Cup which led India to script history. Home Minister Amit Shad also joined the Bandwagon and tweeted in Hindi about the great cricketer of India. Honourable CM of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh mourned the death of legendary cricket also through a tweet.

 

Sad to hear about the demise of cricketer Yashpal Sharma. His remarkable performances during the key matches in the 1983 cricket World Cup played a crucial role in one of India’s greatest triumphs in cricketing history. My deepest condolences to his family, followers & team members,” tweeted the President of India. It has to be noted that Yashpal Sharma is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.
