India have crossed the lead of 300 runs at The Oval in the ongoing fourth Test against England. After finding themselves in trouble in the morning session, Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur added 100 runs not giving up at any moment. Rather the likes of Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah also plundered runs to frustrate England as India’s lead kept on extending.

This series has proved to be a great one for India’s lower-order as they have put up a great fight not giving away their wicket. And it all started from the Lord’s Test when Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah’s partnership for the ninth wicket when things were heated in the middle. After that lift, it was Virat Kohli leading the way in the aggression on the field in the fourth innings.

India cricketer Dinesh Karthik has credited the skipper Kohli for the lower-order’s turn around in this series. He has lauded the 32-year-old for his brilliant captaincy in this aspect and is looking forward to seeing the fiery Kohli in the fourth innings at The Oval.

“The beauty of Virat’s captaincy in this series has been the COMBAT ZONE mentality he got the team into after the inspirational partnership from Bumrah and Shami. In the 4th innings when they bowl at the oval, I’m sure he will rekindle that same FIRE in every person in the team!” Karthik tweeted on Saturday.

Here’s his tweet:

What had happened at Lord’s?

Winding the clock back to the second Test at Lord’s, it all started with Jasprit Bumrah bowling fiery bouncers at James Anderson which the latter didn’t like at all. When India’s turn came to bat, it seemed as if the hosts were just waiting for Bumrah to come out to bat and they lost their cool soon. In a bid to intimidate the pacer with bouncers, they completely lost their plot.

Some heated discussions took place in the field and that fired up him and Shami which turned the game on its head on the final day. And what followed was a fiery Virat Kohli on the field who was in the ears of almost every England batsman. Dinesh Karthik referred to the same ‘COMBAT ZONE mentality’ in his tweet and is expecting a similar Kohli now in England’s second innings.
