36-year old Jamaican batsman Chris Gayle gives out the vibes of someone who seems to be enjoying his life to the fullest. Of course, he also sometimes goes on to stretch that beyond boundaries, but, not many people know why Gayle behaves the way he does at times. With his book ‘Six Machine’ set to take India by storm, Gayle shared a piece of news that shocked a lot of people.
Speaking at the launch in Delhi, Chris Gayle said that he was diagnosed with a hole in his heart whilst playing in Australia. The 36-year old also went on to add that he did not tell anyone, even his parents about the same. This adverse event changed his life for the better as he made the decision to enjoy his life to the fullest, something that he continues to do today.
“Nobody knows that I was diagnosed with a hole in my heart in Australia, not even my parents. I was forced to undergo a surgery and I only informed my parents after the procedure,” Gayle said during the launch of his autobiography “Six Machine” in New Delhi.
“Back then, I realised the importance of life. It was a life-changing moment for me. Thereafter I decided to enjoy my life to the fullest and I am still doing so,” he said.
Gayle also opened up about his childhood, his struggles, and his life as a family man. “It’s definitely a new challenge to be a family man but I now can proudly say that I am a father of a beautiful daughter. It’s a different feeling altogether,” he said.
