Sanju Samson, the young Indian wicketkeeper hogged the spotlight previous month for smashing a double century in Vijay Hazare Trophy game against Goa. Soon after his brilliant knock, he was picked by the selectors in the T20I squad that was scheduled to play against Bangladesh.

However, he didn’t get a chance in the XI for any of the games. Now, when Team India is scheduled to play against West Indies in the shorter format, the Indian selectors snubbed young wicketkeeper from the team and have come up with two big reasons associated with his exclusion from the squad.

The 25-year-old has been performing consistently well in domestic cricket. He has always been overlooked by the Indian selectors. Samson made his debut for Team India back in 2015 through T20I and was dropped just after one game. And, now the selectors dropped him again from the squad without giving him a proper match time. Moreover, the MSK Prasad-led selection panel has been criticized over their decision of leaving Sanju out from the team against West Indies.

Indian selectors were helpless over Sanju Samson’s non-inclusion in the T20I squad

As reported by Bangalore Mirror, the Indian selectors debated over the poor form of Rishabh Pant with the bat and his unimpressive glovework behind the stumps. After a long discussion, they came to the decision of giving some more time to the young Delhiite cricketer. Also, the second strong reason behind the non-inclusion of Samson was the return of the Virat Kohli back into the team and some room had to be made for the Indian skipper. However, selectors felt bad for the Samson but were helpless.

Samson plays for Rajasthan Royals and has managed to make his name as one of the takented young batsmen across the country in recent years. He made his debut in IPL back in 2013 and has managed to score as many as 1696 runs in 93 games at a strike rate of 130.24 with two tons and 10 half-centuries.

Fans also felt sad for the Trivandrum-born cricketer, and one of them came up with an emotional post on Twitter and wrote, “Made A T20I Comeback After 4 Years, But Didn’t Get A Single Chance In The T20I Series Against Bangladesh Now, He is Dropped From The T20I Squad. You Gotta Feel Sad For Sanju Samson”
