Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt has heaped praises on Harshal Patel for the way he bowled in the 2nd T20I against the West Indies. Even though he was smashed for 2 sixes in the final over of the match, Patel held his nerve to ensure that India won the match by 8 runs.

Butt feels that Patel is adept with his changes in pace, and also added that Patel can bowl accurate yorkers. Butt even added that if Patel can carry on in the same vein, then his future is good.

“Harshal Patel’s change of pace is brilliant. He bowled accurate yorkers (during the second T20I). If he carries this on, his future is good. He will continue to play in IPL if he performs like this. He’s already playing for India,” said Salman Butt as quoted by The Hindustan Times.

Salman Butt elaborates on Harshal Patel’s strength

Salman Butt also added that Harshal Patel is a pacer who relies on variations and also possesses a good slower delivery as well. Adding that Patel’s arm speed does not change, Butt concluded by stating that Patel has a decent future in white-ball cricket.

“He is somebody who relies on his variations, he has a very good slower ball. His arm speed doesn’t change when he delivers the slower ball and I think that’s his strength. So in white-ball cricket, his future is decent,” added Salman Butt.

India have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against the West Indies after prevailing in a high scoring rubber against the ‘Men in Maroon’. The 3rd and final T20I match will be played on 20th February 2022 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant will miss the 3rd T20I against the West Indies after both of them have been granted a break from the bio bubble by the BCCI.
