Things nearly got out of control on Sunday when Multan Sultans were playing against Islamabad United in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). It all happened because of Multan Sultans’ veteran spinner Imran Tahir’s celebration. The South African is renowned for his celebration after taking a wicket that sees him run wildly with his arms wide open.

But while the fans enjoy Tahir’s celebration, it is safe to say that not many batsmen like that and Islamabad United’s Colin Munro made it pretty clear. Munro and the leg-spinner were involved in some heated exchange of words after the latter got the better of the New Zealand opener and celebrated the dismissal in his trademark fashion.

The incident happened in the fifth over of Islamabad’s innings when Munro miscued a shot off Tahir’s bowling and was caught by Sohail Tanvir. As soon as Tanvir took the catch, Tahir started celebrating the wicket wildly. However, Munro did not like the celebration at all and turned back to say something to the spinner.

But Tahir was not ready to listen to the rant from ColinMunro and gave it back to the Kiwi star. While the South Africa great rarely loses his cool on the field, he did lose it on Sunday and gave Munro a piece of his mind. Speaking after the game, Colin Munro revealed the details of the exchange. The left-handed batsman said that he called Tahir a clown for his celebration and the South African took it the wrong way.

“I am tired of seeing him (Imran Tahir) celebrate like that and I called him a clown and he took it the wrong way and then you saw what he said to me, so we will leave it at that, eh?,” said Munro as quoted by Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq in his tweet.

Multan Sultans enter playoffs

Talking about the game, Multan Sultans beat Islamabad United by nine wickets (DLS method) to enter the playoffs for the first time. They also became the first team this season to seal their place in the next stage of the competition. In a match that was reduced to nine overs due to wet outfield, Islamabad scored 91 for 7 in the allotted overs. In reply, Sultans chased down the total inside seven overs by losing just one wicket. England international James Vince starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 61 off just 24 balls to take his team over the line.
