Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 was scheduled to begin from 29th March. But, due to the outbreak of theCoronavirus, the situation has gone from bad to worse due to which BCCI postponed the tournament until mid-April. There are still questions if the tournament will get kicked off or not looking forward to the current alarming conditions.

Moreover, the governments have announced locked down in majority parts of the country. And now, Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president has also confirmed that he is unsure about anything at the moment. The cash-rich league was all set to begin and all the eight franchises had begun with their preparations for the 13th season of IPL.

The fans were curiously waiting to watch their favourite players on the field playing together but that didn’t happen. There is no doubt that BCCI will have to suffer a huge loss if the league is cancelled. The reports say that the chances are quite high that IPL will be postponed for a couple of months or will get abandoned for at least one year.

Nothing has changed in last 10 days: Sourav Ganguly

In an interview, Sourav Ganguly said that he can’t comment anything at this stage. The things have been the same that were 10 days ago when the board postponed the league till mid-April. So, he can’t give clarity over the IPL 2020. He was also asked that if the BCCI has planned any work around in case the league gets cancelled.

The 47-year-old then cleared that they can’t plan anything as the future tour programme is already fixed and they can’t change anything in it. Ganguly said he will meet the other members and discuss about what can be done best in this situation.

“I can’t say anything at the moment. We are at the same place where we were on the day we postponed. Nothing has changed in the last 10 days. So, I don’t have an answer to it. Status quo remains. You can’t plan anything. The FTP is scheduled. It’s there and you can’t change the FTP.

“All around the world, cricket and more so sports have stopped. I haven’t had a discussion with Jay. Let’s see. We will assess the situation, follow directives and see what happens,” Sourav Ganguly said as quoted by India TV.
