Australia’s star batter David Warner became the talk of the town after shining brightest against his former franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad in Delhi Capitals’ last game of IPL 2022. Warner, who was already in the limelight ahead of the game, left no stone unturned to show his former side that he is capable of big things. The 35-year-old played a stunning knock of 92* runs to push his side post a target in excess of 200.

The bitter past between SRH and Warner is known to all as the prolific batter was first removed from captaincy in IPL 2021 and was later left aside from the playing XI of the Orange Army. Talking in the same light, the Australian stated that he didn’t need any extra motivation for this particular game, pointing towards the past happenings.

“I didn’t need extra motivation. We’ve all seen what happened before in the past. It was just good to get the win on the board,” said Warner during the post-match presentation.

I need to get back in the gym, I’m only hitting 85 meters: David Warner

Lending the best hand to Warner during DC’s innings, Rovman Powell smashed 67* off 35, hitting some massive sixes. Talking of Powell’s stunning shots and sky-touching sixes, Warner reckoned that he feels he is aging and needs to catch up the gym to clear fences effortlessly. After Delhi’s 21-run win over SRH, they have moved to the fifth spot in the points table while SRH are just a level down in the same regard.

“I was baking up towards the end there. It was a bit silly of me trying to run fast. Man, he hits them clean and gee they go a long way. Even the other day, 117 meters, these guys are clearing these fences like anything. I’m getting older. I need to get back in the gym. I’m only hitting 85 meters. Hopefully I can hit one for 100 meters at some stage,” added Warner.
