Fast bowlers have that natural aggression within them. And sometimes, things can get a little heated up out in the middle, when everything is at stake and when you are representing your country. Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj was fired up during the first Test match at Nottingham between England and India.

The right-arm pacer was glaring at the England batsmen and displayed aggressive behavior out on the field. Indian cricketing veteran Dinesh Karthik has opined that it is unnecessary for Siraj to go and hush up the willow wielders after he has taken their wicket. Stating that Siraj has won the battle the moment he has scalped the wicket of the batsman, Karthik opined that the right arm pacer should learn to keep his aggression under control.

Karthik even stated that not many would have imagined Indian skipper Virat Kohli running in to calm Siraj down in the first Test at Nottingham.

“I do feel it was unnecessary for Siraj to shush batsmen after dismissing them. You have already won the battle, why resort to this? That’s one learning for Siraj early in his international career.

How many of us would have imagined Virat Kohli stepping in to calm an excitable team-mate down? Much to everyone’s amusement, the mercurial Indian captain was forced to act swiftly at Trent Bridge to ensure Mohammed Siraj didn’t cross the line,” wrote Dinesh Karthik in The Telegraph.

Indian players are unafraid to engage their opponents in verbals: Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik further added that he loves the brand of cricket portrayed by the Indian side as the players are not afraid to engage in verbal banters with the opposition. Karthik even stated that we are witnessing the new age India on the cricket field.

“I love the brand of cricket portrayed by this team. Players are unafraid to engage their opponents in verbals, like Siraj and KL Rahul did. This is new-age India, armed with the license to bring out its personality.

According to Karthik, aggression manifests itself in various forms. Karthik opined that while Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj are open with their aggression, the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane represent a different form of aggression.

“Aggression manifests itself in different ways. For some like Virat, Siraj and Rahul, it could be open and in-your-face. I can’t see senior batsmen Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Ajinkya Rahane singing that tune, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t aggressive,” concluded Karthik.
