Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed arrived at Karachi airport from South Africa after being banned over racial abuse by the ICC. As soon as he stepped down at the airport he was taken down by journalists with a bunch of questions. Pakistan captain was, however, quick to respond to the questions who handled the situation very maturely and nicely.

The Pakistan gloveman believes that he deserves the punishment for the mistake he has committed and was ready to accept any punishment handed to him. Further, he was happy with the PCB’s way of handling all the matter and also accepted the ICC‘s decision of four-match ban handed to him with respect and regrets his behaviour that resulted in this.

Thankful to PCB

On being asked to share his thoughts on the whole incident, the Karachi-born cricketer was quoted as saying to Ghaffar Dawn news as, “I have accepted my mistake and whatever punishment I deserved it’s been handed to me and want to thank PCB for handling the situation really well and fulfilled all the requirements. After that, the decision taken by ICC is in front of everyone.”

The 31-year-old was banned for four matches after accepting that he was in breach of the ICC’s Anti-Racism Code for Participants following an incident that occurred during the second ODI against South Africa in Durban on Tuesday. Sarfraz aimed a comment at South Africa all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo which resulted in him being charged with the anti-racism code.

The Pakistan skipper will miss the remaining two matches of the ongoing ODI series against the Proteas as well as the first two matches of the T20I series to follow. His action had attracted widespread criticism with former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar asking him to apologise. The Pakistan Cricket Board too expressed regret over the racist remarks made by Sarfaraz
