I hope that I play the same role for Pakistan which Kohli plays for India: Babar Azam

Babar Azam has been in superb form lately has been kind of a sensation for Pakistan. This 22-year-old showed class in the recent test series down under and talked about facing one of the world’s finest bowling attacks.
Babar who was asked if about playing against Mitchell Starc who is one of the quickest bowlers in the world right now. He said that at first it was quite difficult but as the tour progressed he was quite comfortable with him. Azam also stated that he faced him while playing for Pakistan A but in international cricket, Starc is a different beast.
Azam said: “I faced him (Starc) when I played for Pakistan A, but facing him in international cricket was a different story, however, I got used to him later in the tour and did not find facing him that tough.”
Pakistan have been very poor in the limited overs cricket lately and have slipped down the rankings. They are ranked 8th and are below Bangladesh and nowhere close their arch rivals India who sit pretty in fourth with just seven points behind South Africa who are comfortably placed in the top spot.
Azam said that they are a well-composed unit and their team spirit is as high as ever. This will surely help them to a number of ODI victories in future. “Dressing room environment is healthy, all players are working hard for team’s ranking,” Babar told the media.
The young Pakistani batsman was asked about his comparison to Kohli which he brushed off immediately. He was of the opinion that the Indian skipper is a different player than him. However, he would like to emulate his success and win matches for Pakistan.
Azam said, “(Virat) Kohli is different and I am a different character,” Babar Azam told while talking to media. “I just try to play at my full potential and win games for Pakistan.”
He also said that he would like to replicate the role Kohli plays for India for the Pakistan team. “I hope that I play the same role for Pakistan which he (Kohli) plays for India,” exclaimed Babar.
