Glenn Maxwell has decimated bowling attacks in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Australian cricketer scored his third consecutive half-century in the 14th IPL season against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) side on 3rd October 2021.
Maxwell also won the Player of the Match award for his scintillating batting display. And now, Maxwell has taken to Twitter to state that he has been playing well in professional cricket over the last couple of years. The media has tweaked several of his quotes, and Maxwell has taken a dig at his critics with his tweet.
The 32-year-old also added that he knows very well that he struggled last year in the Indian Premier League. He also cheekily added that performances in the IPL play a role in the ‘quote’ of a player. “I played well in the last 2 years in professional cricket (not IPL)… makes a difference in quotes doesn’t it?,” tweeted Glenn Maxwell.

Glenn Maxwell endured a torrid run in the 2020 IPL season
Glenn Maxwell experienced an abysmal run with the bat in the 2020 IPL season. The right-handed batsman could score just 108 runs in 11 innings last year and averaged a paltry 15.43. Maxwell also scored his runs at a poor strike rate of 101.89.
In complete contrast, Maxwell has plundered 407 runs in the 2021 IPL edition and has scored his runs at a superb average of 40.70 and an impressive strike rate of 145.36.
Glenn Maxwell was bought for an astronomical sum of INR 14.25 Crores by the RCB side in the 2021 IPL auctions. And, the Australian has repaid the faith that RCB had in him by destroying several bowling attacks with the willow this year with aplomb.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side is currently placed at the 3rd spot in the points table, after winning 8 out of the 12 matches they have played in the 2021 IPL season. Maxwell and the RCB side will next be seen on the field on 6th October 2021 when they lock horns with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise.
Glenn Maxwell has played 94 IPL matches and has scored 1912 runs at an average of 24.51 and a colossal strike rate of 152.59.
