The defending champs of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians (MI) would be beginning their quest to defend the title against the Chennai Super Kings in the opening game at the Wankhede Stadium, later in the day.

The entire team as well as the support staff of the Mumbai Indians will certainly be wanting to start things off on a winning note and then to maintain that momentum in the entire long season. There are many great talented players who are part of their roster this year, but they will be having some huge expectations from young Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

If you can create pressure on the opposition, the job is done: Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has played an important role in the success of Mumbai Indians in the recent years of the tournament. Following his good show in the IPL, Bumrah was also called up to the Indian team and is now an established and a crucial member of the national team in all the three formats. He believes that they have a strong bowling unit this year which can create the pressure on the opposition team.

“I don’t think so much about responsibilities. I enjoy the job given to me. As a bowling unit, we are not dependent on one particular bowler. We have good spinners and good pacers. If you create pressure as a unit, the job is done. Everybody is doing their own bit. I don’t think about expectations or what pressure is there, I just focus on match situations,” said Bumrah as quoted by Sportstar.

Bumrah was rested for the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy tri-series in Sri Lanka, which was won by India by defeating Bangladesh in the final. The fast bowler was awarded the much-needed rest after a long tour of South Africa, where he played most of the games across the three formats.

“I was at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), so I was training, and not sitting at home and sleeping. It was a long schedule in South Africa and the body needed rest. A good break brings your hunger back,” further added the MI fast bowler.
