Yuzvendra Chahal was not picked in the Indian squad for the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup. And, South African cricketer Imran Tahir has said that it is indeed unfortunate that Chahal is not a part of the Indian squad for the tournament.

Adding that Chahal is a wonderful bowler, Tahir said that he personally wanted to see Chahal getting picked in the Indian T20 World Cup squad. The 42-year-old Tahir also said that all leg-spinners have got variations up their sleeves as well.

“He is a wonderful bowler. I personally wanted to see him playing in the T20 World Cup. But unfortunately, he didn’t get picked. All the leg-spinners have got different variations. It’s not just about googly and leg break. Top-spinner, flipper, slider are there,” said Tahir in a media chat organized by the Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Leg spinners are playing a major role in the game: Imran Tahir

Imran Tahir also added that the leg spinners are playing a major role in the game, and the willow wielders cannot play them in the same way that they used to, around a decade back. Tahir also opined that it is lovely to see leg spinners like Adil Rashid, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Rashid Khan performing well in the 2021 T20 World Cup.

“Leg spinners are playing a big role. Batsmen now can’t play like they used to play 10 years ago. Credit goes to all the spinners and the field planning. Leg-spinners are very important and it’s lovely to see that Shamsi, Adil Rashid, Rashid Khan are doing magic in the T20 World Cup. They are making proud for their respective countries,” said Tahir.

Tahir also picked South Africa and Pakistan as the finalists of the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup. “South Africa’s bowling attack is very good, it seems nothing can stop Pakistan now. I can see them playing the final,” concluded Tahir.

Imran Tahir has represented South Africa in 20 Tests, 107 ODIs, and 38 T20Is in his international career.
